Cozy Up: Introducing Our New Hot Cocoas

Cozy Up: Introducing Our New Hot Cocoas

Posted by Theresa Helmer on 10th Dec 2015

On Monday, we debuted two brand new Hot Cocoa Mixes to start the holiday season, Hot Cocoa Mix! and Hot Mint Cocoa Mix! The Hot Cocoa Mix has a rich cocoa base with mini marshmallows and semisweet chocolate chips. The Hot Mint Cocoa Mix! has the same rich cocoa base, but with candy cane pieces added in with the chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.

These are a perfect addition to roasting marshmallows by the fire, playing board games with family, and enjoying time together this holiday season.

Winter is that time of year when people want nothing more than to stay inside and curl up next to the fireplace with a good book. To be honest, some of my favorite childhood memories involve rich chocolatey hot cocoa. I remember when I was a little girl and I would spend my snow days outside with the rest of the neighborhood kids. We would go sledding, build snowmen and make forts in the backyard. When the cold would finally get to us, my brother and I would come in, and my mom would have hot cocoa waiting for us so that we could begin to warm up again.

So these days, I like to have hot cocoa on a cold winter day, remembering the fun times I had as a child. I love making a big batch of Hot Cocoa Mix! to share with my roommate and friends on the weekends or when we’re all catching up on our favorite tv shows. With these jars you can make 12 servings all at once so it’s perfect for serving a larger group.

The process is super simple and can even be made to keep warm in a small crockpot:

Serves one:

1. Empty the entire Mason Jar content into a bowl and mix together, breaking up any lumps. Return the mixture to your Mason Jar.

2. Pour 1 cup of hot milk or water into your favorite mug.

3. Stir in 2 tablespoons of Mason Jar Cookie Company® Hot Cocoa Mix! and enjoy.

*To make the whole Jar at once, pour the contents of the entire Jar into the desired amount of simmering milk or water and stire. Use more or less liquid for more or less chocolatey flavor.

A couple of tips:

-Whole milk will make it richer, creamier, and more delicious

-For those with dairy sensitivities, try using soy milk or almond milk

-These make great gifts. Not sure what to get your child’s favorite teacher? These are perfectly presented to give to your child’s teacher or your neighbor down the street.

-Add a bit of cinnamon to our standard Hot Cocoa Mix! for a bit of winter flavor and enjoy!
